  4. Review Your Itinerary and Cost
  5. Confirm Your Booking
  6. Prepare for Your Trek

Step 1: Choose Your EBC Trek Package

The first thing you do is pick the trek that fits your time and fitness. We offer the standard 14 day Everest Base Camp Trek, a short 12 day version, Everest Base Camp Trek with helicopter return, luxury Everest Base Camp Trek, the Everest Base Camp Trek with Gokyo Lakes, and the Three Passes route. Look at how many days you have between your flights, think about your current fitness level, and pick the one that makes sense for your trip. If you are not sure which one fits, skip this and go straight to Step 3. We help you decide in the first conversation.

Step 2: Customize Your Trek

Once you have a package in mind, tell us how you want to adjust it. Maybe you need one extra day at Namche for acclimatization. Maybe you want a private trek for just your group. Maybe you want to add Gokyo Lakes to the standard route. Maybe you want a helicopter return from Gorakshep instead of walking back down. Whatever you want to change, we adjust the itinerary before you confirm anything.

Step 3: Contact Us via WhatsApp, Email or Call

This is where the booking actually starts. Message us on WhatsApp at +977 9869225929, email us at info@nexttripnepal.com, or call us directly. Tell us your travel dates, how many people are coming, your fitness background, and which package interested you. We respond fast and give you honest answers to every question. No automated replies, no call centres. You speak directly to our team every time.

Step 4: Review Your Itinerary and Cost

After our first conversation we send you a written itinerary built specifically for your group. It includes the day by day route, overnight locations, altitude for each night, walking hours, full cost breakdown, permit details, teahouse bookings, and flight information. Read through everything carefully. Ask us anything that is not clear. We update the document as many times as you need. No payment is required at this stage.

Step 5: Confirm Your Booking

When you are happy with the itinerary and the cost, you confirm. We do not ask for advance payment. Once you confirm we assign your guide and porter, start the permit process, pre book your teahouses, and arrange your Lukla flight. From this point you have one person on our team managing everything until you arrive in Kathmandu.

Step 6: Prepare for Your Trek

With your booking confirmed, use the time before you arrive in Nepal to prepare. Start walking regularly, build up your endurance with long walks and stairs. Get your travel insurance sorted and make sure it covers helicopter rescue above 4,000 metres. Book your international flights into Kathmandu and arrive at least one day before your trek starts. We send you a full pre departure guide covering gear, permits, visa, flights, and physical preparation after you confirm.

Why Book Your Everest Base Camp Trek With Next Trip Nepal

1. No Advance Payment Required

Most trekking companies ask you to pay a deposit before you even speak to anyone. We do not work that way. You confirm your booking with us and pay when you arrive in Nepal. Your money stays in your account until you are standing in Kathmandu and fully confident about your trip.

2. You Talk Directly to Our Team Every Time

When you message us on WhatsApp or email us, you speak to our actual team. Not a booking platform, not a call centre, not an automated system. Every question you ask gets a real answer from someone who has been on the EBC trail and knows it well.

3. We Have Done This Route Many Times

Our lead guide Kiran Basnet has completed the Everest Base Camp trek more than 20 times on foot. We know every teahouse on the route, every acclimatization stop, every weather pattern by season, and every problem that can come up on the trail. That experience goes into every trip we plan for you.

4. Fully Customizable Itinerary

We do not force you into a fixed package. If you need one extra day at Namche, we add it. If you want to include Gokyo Lakes, we build it in. If you want a helicopter return from Gorakshep, we arrange it. Your itinerary is built around your trip, not the other way around.

5. Private Treks for Any Group Size

Whether you are trekking solo, as a couple, with friends, or as a family, we run a fully private trek for your group. You set the pace, you choose the stops, and you do not share your guide with strangers. If you want to join a shared group to reduce cost, we arrange that too.

6. Licensed and Government Registered Company

Next Trip Nepal is a fully licensed and government registered trekking company in Nepal. Our guides hold official trekking guide licenses issued by the Nepal Tourism Board. You are trekking with a legal, accountable company, not an informal operator.

7. We Handle All Permits and Paperwork

You need a Sagarmatha National Park permit and a Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit to trek to EBC. We handle both using your passport details. You do not need to visit any government office or stand in any queue. Everything is ready before your trek starts.

8. Transparent Pricing With No Hidden Fees

We send you a full cost breakdown before you confirm anything. Every item is listed clearly, what is included and what is not. There are no surprise charges added when you arrive in Kathmandu. What we quote is what you pay.

9. We Are a Local Operator Based in Nepal

We are not a middleman or a foreign agency reselling Nepal trips. We are a local operator based in Kathmandu with our own team, our own guides, and our own network on the ground. When you book with us, every rupee you spend goes directly into the local economy and supports the communities along the EBC trail. Booking local means better service, better prices, and a more genuine experience on the mountain.

10. We Are Available Before, During, and After Your Trek

From the moment you first message us to the day you return to Kathmandu, our team is reachable. If something changes on the trail, if weather causes a delay, if you need a helicopter evacuation arranged, we respond fast and handle it directly. You are never on your own at any point during your trip.

11. We Are an Eco Friendly Trekking Company

We care about the mountains we work in. We follow a strict no plastic policy on all our treks, we carry out all non biodegradable waste from the trail, and we use teahouses that follow responsible waste management practices. We also educate every trekker we guide about leaving the Khumbu cleaner than they found it. The mountains are our home and we take that responsibility seriously on every single trip.

12. Easy Booking Process

Booking your EBC trek with us takes a few simple steps. You choose your package, tell us how you want to Trek customize it, and contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone. We send you a clear itinerary and cost breakdown. You confirm and we handle everything else. No complicated online forms, no lengthy registration process, no confusion at any stage.

13. Best Trekking Guides in Nepal

Every guide we send on the EBC trail is licensed by the Nepal Tourism Board and has years of hands on experience in the Khumbu region. They know the route in every season, they know how to manage altitude sickness on the trail, and they know every teahouse, every shortcut, and every viewpoint worth stopping at. Our guides do not just lead you to base camp. They make sure you get there safely and come back with the best possible experience.

14. Emergency Helicopter Rescue Coordination

If a medical emergency happens on the trail, we act immediately. We have direct contacts with helicopter rescue operators in Nepal and we coordinate evacuation fast. We help you understand exactly what insurance you need before your trek starts so that if a rescue is ever necessary, the process is smooth and there are no delays. Your safety on the mountain is our first priority at every stage of the trek.

15. We Provide Sleeping Bags and Down Jackets

You do not need to buy or rent a sleeping bag or down jacket before your trek. We provide both as part of your package. Temperatures drop significantly above Namche Bazaar, especially at Lobuche and Gorakshep. Having proper sleeping gear and insulation is not optional on this trek. We make sure every trekker in our group has what they need to stay warm at altitude without extra cost or hassle.

16. All Equipment Provided — No Need to Hire Separately

We provide all the essential trekking equipment you need for the EBC route. This includes sleeping bags, down jackets, trekking poles, and duffel bags for your porter. You do not need to go around Thamel renting gear from different shops before your trek. Everything is sorted and ready for you when you arrive. Just bring your personal clothing and we handle the rest.

17. Best Teahouses on the Mountain

We have been running treks on the Everest Base Camp route for years and we know exactly which teahouses offer the best rooms, the best food, and the best service at each stop along the trail. We pre book the best available teahouses at Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep well in advance so your accommodation is confirmed before you even leave Kathmandu. You will not be turned away at the door or stuck in a cold room at the end of a long walking day.

14 Days Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary

The 14 day Everest Base Camp Trek is the most complete and well paced route to reach 5,364 metres and return safely. It includes two proper acclimatization days, covers approximately 130 km of trail, and gives you enough time at key stops to enjoy the experience rather than rush through it. This itinerary is what we recommend for most trekkers at Next Trip Nepal.

Arrive Kathmandu — 1,400m

Altitude: 1,400m No trekking Rest and preparation day

You arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our team picks you up and transfers you to your hotel in Thamel. The rest of the day is free to rest after your flight, explore Thamel, and pick up any last minute gear you need.

In the evening our guide meets you at the hotel for a full trek briefing. We go through the day by day itinerary, what to expect at altitude, packing advice, and answer every question you have before the trek starts.

Overnight: Kathmandu hotel
2

Fly Kathmandu to Lukla — Trek to Phakding — 2,610m

Altitude: 2,610m Distance: 8 km Walking time: 3 to 4 hours

We transfer to the airport early morning for the 35 minute mountain flight to Lukla at 2,840m. The Lukla landing is one of the most dramatic in the world. The runway is short, the mountain wall is close, and the view as you descend is unforgettable.

From Lukla we begin trekking immediately. The trail descends through pine forests and crosses the Dudhkoshi River on suspension bridges to reach Phakding. This is a short, comfortable first day designed to let your legs warm up without pushing too hard.

Overnight: Phakding teahouse
3

Phakding to Namche Bazaar — 3,440m

Altitude: 3,440m Distance: 11 km Walking time: 5 to 6 hours

This is one of the most scenic days of the entire trek. The trail crosses several high suspension bridges over the roaring Dudhkoshi River and passes through the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park where your permits are checked.

The final climb to Namche Bazaar is steep and takes around 2 hours but the views of Thamserku, Kongde Ri, and your first glimpse of Everest from the ridge above Namche make every step worth it. Namche is the main trading hub of the Khumbu and has good teahouses, bakeries, and gear shops.

Overnight: Namche Bazaar teahouse
4

Acclimatization Day — Namche Bazaar — 3,440m

Altitude: 3,440m Rest and hike day Optional hike to 3,880m

This acclimatization day is not optional. Skipping it is the most common reason trekkers develop altitude sickness above Namche. We spend the full day in and around Namche to let your body adjust to the elevation before continuing higher.

We do a short hike up to the Everest View Hotel at 3,880m in the morning for spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. This higher hike followed by returning to sleep at Namche is the most effective acclimatization technique on this route. In the afternoon you explore Namche, visit the Sherpa Culture Museum, or simply rest at the teahouse.

Overnight: Namche Bazaar teahouse
5

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche — 3,860m

Altitude: 3,860m Distance: 10 km Walking time: 5 to 6 hours

The trail from Namche climbs gradually with outstanding views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam throughout the day. You pass through the villages of Kyangjuma and Phunki Thenga before the final steep climb to Tengboche.

Tengboche is home to the most famous monastery in the Khumbu region, the Tengboche Monastery. We visit the monastery in the late afternoon for prayers and to learn about the history of the Sherpa Buddhist community in this valley. The view of Ama Dablam from Tengboche is one of the finest mountain views anywhere on the EBC route.

Overnight: Tengboche teahouse
6

Tengboche to Dingboche — 4,410m

Altitude: 4,410m Distance: 11 km Walking time: 5 to 6 hours

From Tengboche the trail descends to Debuche and crosses the Imja Khola river before climbing steadily through Pangboche, one of the oldest villages in the Khumbu. The upper village of Pangboche has a small ancient monastery worth a short visit.

The trail continues through alpine terrain above 4,000 metres to reach Dingboche. At this altitude the landscape opens up dramatically and the views of Island Peak, Lhotse, and the surrounding ridgelines become very clear. Dingboche is a good sized village with comfortable teahouses and is one of our preferred overnight stops on this route.

Overnight: Dingboche teahouse
7

Acclimatization Day — Dingboche — 4,410m

Altitude: 4,410m Rest and hike day Optional hike to Nagarjun Hill 5,100m

The second acclimatization day. Above 4,000 metres the risk of altitude sickness increases significantly and this rest day is essential. We hike up to Nagarjun Hill at approximately 5,100m in the morning for panoramic views of Makalu, Lhotse, Island Peak, and the Amphu Lapcha pass.

This higher day hike followed by sleeping again at Dingboche follows the same acclimatization principle as Day 4 in Namche. Your body needs time at elevation without continuing upward. Many trekkers notice a significant improvement in how they feel the morning after this rest day.

Overnight: Dingboche teahouse
8

Dingboche to Lobuche — 4,940m

Altitude: 4,940m Distance: 9 km Walking time: 4 to 5 hours

From Dingboche the trail climbs through open moraine terrain to Thukla Pass at around 4,620m. At the top of the pass sits the Thukla Memorial, a collection of stone monuments built in memory of climbers who lost their lives on Everest. It is a moving and important place to pause on this trek.

Above the memorial the trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Lobuche. At this altitude every trekker begins to feel the effects of the thin air. Steps feel heavier, breathing requires more effort, and the cold is more noticeable. Walk slowly and drink plenty of water. Lobuche has basic but warm teahouses and marks the final overnight before base camp.

Overnight: Lobuche teahouse
9

Lobuche to Gorakshep — Trek to Everest Base Camp — 5,364m

Max Altitude: 5,364m Distance: 13 km Walking time: 7 to 8 hours

This is the biggest day of the entire trek. We leave Lobuche early in the morning and follow the Khumbu Glacier moraine to Gorakshep at 5,164m where we drop our bags and have lunch.

After lunch we continue along the rocky glacier moraine to Everest Base Camp at 5,364m. The final approach to base camp takes about 2 hours from Gorakshep. The terrain is rough and the altitude makes every step feel slow but the moment you arrive and see the prayer flags, the Khumbu Icefall, and the full southwest face of Everest directly above you is something that stays with you for the rest of your life.

We spend time at base camp, take photos, and return to Gorakshep before dark. The return walk takes approximately 2 hours.

Overnight: Gorakshep teahouse
10

Gorakshep to Kalapatthar — Trek to Pheriche — 4,240m

Max Altitude: 5,545m Distance: 16 km Walking time: 7 to 8 hours

We wake up at 4:00 AM and begin the climb to Kalapatthar at 5,545m for sunrise. This is the highest point of the entire trek and the finest open viewpoint for Everest in the world. At sunrise the summit of Everest glows orange and pink above the dark ridgeline of Nuptse. The view of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and Changtse all together from this point is extraordinary.

After sunrise we descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast, collect our bags, and begin the long descent toward Pheriche. Descending from altitude feels noticeably easier and most trekkers find their energy returns quickly below 5,000m. We stop at Pheriche for the night.

Overnight: Pheriche teahouse
11

Pheriche to Namche Bazaar — 3,440m

Altitude: 3,440m Distance: 19 km Walking time: 6 to 7 hours

A long descent day covering significant distance. We retrace the route through Tengboche, Phunki Thenga, and back down to Namche Bazaar. The trail is familiar now and the lower altitude makes the walking feel much easier than the ascent days.

Namche in the evening feels like a celebration. Good food, warm teahouses, and the knowledge that the hardest part of the trek is behind you. Many trekkers treat themselves to a proper dinner in Namche on this night.

Overnight: Namche Bazaar teahouse
12

Namche Bazaar to Lukla — 2,840m

Altitude: 2,840m Distance: 19 km Walking time: 6 to 7 hours

The final full trekking day. We descend from Namche through Monjo, Jorsalle, and Phakding back to Lukla. The trail is well known by now and the descent feels quick compared to the upward journey two weeks ago.

Arriving back in Lukla feels significant. The small town that felt so remote on Day 2 now feels almost familiar. We celebrate the completion of the trek at a local teahouse in Lukla that evening with the team. This is a tradition we keep on every EBC trek we run.

Overnight: Lukla teahouse
13

Fly Lukla to Kathmandu — Rest Day — 1,400m

Altitude: 1,400m Flight: 35 minutes Free day in Kathmandu

Early morning flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. Lukla flights are weather dependent and occasionally delayed, which is why we always build this buffer day into the itinerary before your international departure. Most flights operate on schedule during spring and autumn.

Back in Kathmandu the rest of the day is free. Many trekkers visit Boudhanath or Pashupatinath, do some shopping in Thamel, or simply rest at the hotel. We arrange a final team dinner in the evening if the group wishes.

Overnight: Kathmandu hotel
14

Final Departure from Kathmandu

Departure day Airport transfer included

Our driver transfers you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight. Depending on your departure time you may have a few hours in the morning to do final shopping or visit a nearby temple. We confirm your pickup time the evening before based on your flight schedule.

The best time to trek Everest Base Camp is March to May (spring) and October to November (autumn). October is the single best month for clear skies, stable weather, and the finest mountain views on the entire route. Avoid June to September due to monsoon rains and heavy cloud cover.

Season Overview at a Glance

Season Months Weather Trail Conditions Rating
Spring March to May Warm, clear, pre monsoon light Good, some afternoon cloud Best
Autumn Oct to Nov Clear, dry, cold at altitude Excellent, post monsoon clarity Best
Winter Dec to Feb Very cold, some clear windows Possible, fewer crowds Possible
Monsoon June to Sept Heavy rain, thick cloud Slippery, poor visibility Avoid

Spring — March, April, May

Why Spring Is One of the Two Best Seasons

Spring is our top recommendation for most trekkers doing the Everest Base Camp route for the first time. The weather is stable, the temperatures are warm enough to be comfortable at altitude, and the mornings are consistently clear across the Khumbu valley.

  • Daytime temperatures at Namche are around 10 to 15 degrees Celsius
  • Nights at Lobuche and Gorakshep drop to minus 5 to minus 10 degrees Celsius
  • Rhododendron forests below Namche are in full bloom from late March to April
  • April is the peak Everest climbing season so you see expedition teams and their gear at base camp
  • Skies are clearest in the morning, cloud builds in the afternoon most days
  • Busy on the trail, especially in April — book teahouses in advance
Best month in spring: April. The days are long, the light is excellent for photography, the rhododendrons are at their peak, and base camp is full of expedition energy.

Autumn — October, November

Why October Is the Single Best Month to Trek EBC

Autumn is the most popular trekking season in Nepal for good reason. The monsoon rains clear the dust from the air and leave the sky a deep, sharp blue. The mountains look their most defined and dramatic in October. Visibility from Kalapatthar is at its finest during this window.

  • October daytime temperatures at Namche are around 8 to 12 degrees Celsius
  • Nights at Gorakshep drop to minus 10 to minus 15 degrees Celsius in late November
  • Post monsoon air is crystal clear with the best long distance mountain views of the year
  • October is the busiest month on the trail — popular teahouses fill up fast
  • November is quieter, colder, and still excellent for visibility
  • Late November can see early snow on the higher passes
Best month in autumn: October. Best sky clarity, best mountain views, and the most energetic atmosphere on the trail. Book at least 3 to 4 months in advance for October dates.

Winter — December, January, February

Cold But Possible for the Right Trekker

Winter trekking on the EBC route is not for everyone but it has real advantages. The trail is quiet, teahouses are nearly empty, and the mountain views on clear days are outstanding. The main challenge is the cold.

  • Temperatures at Gorakshep drop to minus 20 degrees Celsius at night in January
  • Some high teahouses close between January and February
  • Larkya La and high passes can have heavy snow
  • Fewer trekkers means more personal attention from guides and teahouse owners
  • Best suited for experienced cold weather trekkers with proper gear
  • December is the mildest winter month and the most manageable for most trekkers
Best winter month: December. Cold but manageable, quiet trails, and still very clear skies in the Khumbu.

Monsoon — June, July, August

Why We Do Not Recommend This Season for EBC

The monsoon brings heavy and persistent rain to the Khumbu region from June to mid September. Cloud covers the mountains for most of the day, the trails are slippery and muddy, leeches are active below Namche, and flights to Lukla are frequently cancelled or delayed.

  • Mountain views are largely blocked by cloud throughout the day
  • Lukla flight delays of 2 to 3 days are common in peak monsoon
  • Trail surfaces are wet and slippery from Phakding to Tengboche
  • Risk of landslides on lower sections of the trail
  • Teahouses are open but very few other trekkers are on the route
Exception: If you are set on trekking in summer, consider the Mustang or Dolpo region instead. These lie in the Himalayan rain shadow and stay dry and clear during monsoon season.

When Should You Book?

For spring (April and May) book 3 to 4 months in advance. April fills up fast because it overlaps with the Everest climbing season and teahouses along the route get fully booked weeks ahead.

For autumn (October) book 3 to 4 months in advance. October is the busiest month on the entire EBC trail. If you want specific teahouses and a confirmed guide, do not leave it late.

For December, January, February, and March bookings can usually be confirmed within 2 to 4 weeks. The trail is much quieter and last minute arrangements are easier to manage.

Our advice from experience: If you have one shot at this trek and want the best possible conditions, choose October. If you want the full mountain beauty with rhododendrons and a warmer feel, choose April. Both are outstanding. The difference is atmosphere and temperature.
